Off course I do not the complexities of programming , but a simple time out would do in most cases
no reply from hardware/driver for a given time then try and carry on

Harry, Just a thought, I’m not familiar with your focuser model. Does its driver pass the ASCOM conformance checker?

Yes have checked this long time ago , As I said before it was all working for a few months ??
Will have to beat all my stuff harder to see what I can sort

OK - I know you said it worked, but you know that is not the same as conformance, as something legitimate may have changed and caused it to fall over… hence the question.
Harry - when did this start going wrong? I recently had a sudden fresh issue with a Windows update that rendered the Optec ASCOM server inoperable (now fixed).
