Autofocus problem

Hi
Focusing a OSC is always a pain

If you bin the focusing frame the debayer pattern is effectively removed and focusing

is much easier

Harry

Yes, but probably not in the immediate future.

A true statement. Easier said than done with DSLR cameras

Hi Harry,

Unfortunately, binning is not an option for me since I use a Canon 60Da.

Dean

Harry are you saying: If you have a OSC and binning is an option, then do it!

best regards
John

Binning doesn’t have to be done on chip, it can be done in software. It’s quite easy,

Chris

Chris are you saying there is a way to bin a DSLR?

Dean

HI John

For focusing I always use bin ( 2x2) This gives me much better result , the only problem is if you are focusing
at very short FL and then might not have a good enough image scale.
Regards

Harry

  • Have a look on Canon 60d Manual and try this:
  • Take the lens off of your camera.
  • Put the lens in MF mode.
  • Twist the FOCUS ring (the tip of the lens) all the way to one side (extend it). You may hear a click noise or two, this is good, but don’t FORCE the lens.
  • Twist the FOCUS ring all the way to the opposite side (retract it). Again, you may hear a couple of clicking noises. What we hope is happening is the focusing motor being put back into its proper place.
  • Put the lens back on the camera.
  • Put the lens in AF mode.
  • Turn the camera on.
  • Put the camera in AUTO or P mode.
  • Take a test photo.
  • Profit
