hubs are a PITA. I have had good consistent connections using StarTech industrial hubs and those in the Pegasus Powerbox. The industrial hubs are not cheap, I initially used their USB2 hubs and then later on, upgraded to USB3. I have a spare which I have loaned out to friends in the past, with a 100% fix rate of dodgy systems!

Just had a look at the star tech range but they don’t seem to do a powered hub with usb-c host to usb-a devices.

Their USB 3 hub works with USB1 and 2 devices, as do most. USB C has limitations on cable length. I’m a little confused, what camera uses USB C? Many have the connector but are running at USB 3 speeds

My Astro laptop is a Dell XPS and only has USB-C connectors - all my devices are USB-A.

Try a cable USB3 type A (or B) to USB-C, or buy an adapter to USB-C. It should work, I have no problems using either such a cable or adapter.

I have such a cable and it works. The issue is finding a powered hub that works :smirk:

Try powered USB hubs from ANKER or AUKEY, they work flawlessly for me.
