Recovery, Auto-Center Do-Loop

After auto-focusing, when I pause to find a guide star and then continue the sequence, SGP enters Recovery mode and repeats auto-centering which it had done prior to auto-focusing. This Recovery/Auto-Center process repeats over and over and I have to abort the re-centering to be able to resume the sequence. What is causing this?
