I downloaded the latest SGP (2.5.0.0) to give it a try tonight unitl the clouds rolled in. Everything loaded and from what I was able to test worked except. . . For my planetarium. I use Stellarium and StellariumScope but when I tried connecting my mount to Stellarium though StellariumScope I get this message “Access to the port “Com5” is denied”. This access denied message only happens if I have SGP running. This first showed in Version 2.4.3.24, Never had any issue running on previous releases of SGP. Anyway I thought maybe it has something to do with me using 2.4.3.24 and ASCOM 6.2 so I never reported it. But it showed in this newest release 2.5.0.0 so I though I should report it. As mentioned I’m using ASCOM 6.2 as well as the latest version of PHD2.5 0 Dev9. Also I notice when SGP opens PH2 I get a small window of the Celestron telescope ASCOM driver that I have to click OK on for it to go away This to was first noticed in 2.4.3.24. Anyway I can post my log file if it will help.
Please do post a log file.
I use Stellariumscope as well and haven’t noticed any issues with Ascom
6.2 and SGP 2.4.24. Haven’t tried it yet with 2.5.
Thanks Joel, As requested, here’s the log file

Check how you’re running the applications. They all need to be at the same “level.” We recommend NOT running as Administrator. This generally happens because one application attaches to the device as an administrator, then another application comes along and can’t find the driver because the driver is running as Admin and the new application is not and therefore does not have access to it. So it tries to create another driver but finds the com port in use…thus this error.
Thanks,
Jared
Hi Jared,
I checked and I was not running anything as or in Administrator. Last night I created a new user account “non admin” just to make sure and tried again and still got the 'Access Denied" message. I’m sure it has to do with something that may have changed in my system or else others would be reporting this issue as well. Since I didn’t have this issue with release 2.4.3.23 & ASCOM 6.1 I’m going to roll back to to these earlier versions so I can verify this access denied issue goes away. If so I’ll update one at a time to see if the problem comes back. I’ll report back what I find.
As always thanks for the help,
Mark
Ok, here’s the latest. For whatever reason I CAN connect PHD2 and StellariumScope to the Celestron Telescope Driver at the same time without any issue. But when I try connecting SGP to the Celestron Telescope Driver I get the “Error connecting to Celestron Telescope Driver”. Additionally, if I connect to the Celestron Telescope Driver through SGP first then try to connect either PHD2 or StellariumScope. I get the “Access Denied” message. It’s like SGP wants total control of the telescope driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled both SGP and ASCOM 6.2 but no change. I wanted to go back to ASCOM 6.1 and 2.4.3.23 to check to see if the problem goes way but I don’t have a copy of 6.1 on my system and I could not find it on net. Anyway the image below shows both StellariumScope and PHD2 connected and working together but when I try to connect SGP I get the connection Error.
Additonally here’s the log file. It actually did log the connection error.

It’s got to be something in my system but I just can’t figure it out. This first started when I Installed ASCOM 6.2 & SGP 2.4.3.24 a few days ago. before that I never had any issues connecting to the Celestron Driver. I though it would go away when I installed SGP 2.5.0.0 but I get the same access denied or connection error.
I checked and both StellariumScope and PHD2 are running as non-administrator. When I check SGP I noticed the run as Administrator is grayed out, So I assume it is running in non-administrator as well?
I’m thinking about wiping my system and starting with a fresh install of the OS, and all of the other software. This is just a lot of work and I’d like to avoid doing this if possible. BTW I’m running Windows 10, if that makes any difference.
One more item and this is really strange. . . When I start a sequence SGP starts PHD2 and allows PHD2 to connect to the Celestron driver.
I hope how I explain the issue makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I don’t have any other ideas I’ll try playing around and see if I can duplicate this behavior on any of my machines. But so far I haven’t seen this issue pop up.
Thanks,
Jared
Hi Jared,
I went ahead and reinstalled my OS list night as well as ASCOM 6.2, Celestron Telescope ASCOM driver, SGP 2.5.0.1, StellariumScope, and PHD2.6, currently they all seem to be working well together. I plan to install the following tonight: Atik Camera ASCOM, Optec TCF-S and Pyxis ASCOM’s followed by Splashtop - Remote desktop access. I’m wondering if the issue wasn’t Splashtop causing the issue. Right before I stated having the “Access Denied” issue I configured my PC so I could remote start it with Splashtop, Now I’m wondering if the remote start configuration had something to do with this Access Denied issue.
Thanks,
Mark
