Another "Nikon not working" post

Right so I have been very happy with SGP for a while now, it works fine with all my equipment. But I wanted to use my Nikon D5300 for widefield work, and OMG - the FRUSTRATION!!!
SGP sees the camera and will connect to it. But as soon as I try to take a picture, it just locks up!

Memory card is out, and “Slot Empty Release Lock” is set to “Enable”.

“Bulb” is selected (Even tho it says “Time” in the log file (“Unexpected shutter value: Time”))

It also does something weird to the shutter speed. I tried a quick 5 sec test shot, but the log shows it trying to use “native shutter speed at 10”

And then it fails miserably: “Failure in Capture image! [kNkMAIDResult_CameraNotFound] (kNkMAIDCommand_CapGet, 33342, kNkMAIDDataType_UnsignedPtr, 204202036)”

Oh yes, everything is connected through my StarTech USB over CAT adapter

Her is the log file:

Right, I got it to work yesterday while I did some daytime testing. But of course it refused to work later when it was dark. Are the drivers really that bad for Nikon, or am I missing something here?
