I’m trying to install Ansvr (ansvr-setup-0.20.exe). At the end of the installation, bash.exe is launching but there is an error message box, about the missing of the procedure CancelSynchronousIo in kernel32.dll.
It is possible or not to run Ansvr on a Windows XP ?
Ansvr is built on top of cygwin which no longer works on XP. You could try installing an older version of ansvr, since older versions of cygwin did work with XP. Here are links to some of the older versions of the ansvr/astrometry.net/cygwin installers:
I’d start with 0.19 and work backwards until you find one that works. Once you have that, you can update the ansvr program itself without updating cygwin – select “Check for Ansvr Updates” in the Astrometry.net Local Solver folder in the start menu.
Please let me know which one works so I can add a note to the instructions on the ansvr download page.
OK, the setup is working, I’ve downloaded some index files, but I can not launch any batch file (start_ansvr.bat for example).
In the batch, there is a folder named cygwin_ansvr but there is no corresponding folder on my computer after the installation.
OK, cygwin_ansvr folder is setup in “C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator” and not in “C:\Documents and Settings\User”.
I had copied the folder from Administrator to User.
