If you are running the 1530 beta you can âignoreâ a switch, although the release notes donât say how to ignore it.
The latest OmniSim (that comes with Platform 7.0) will cause this DOS window to instantly minimize. If the web browser is also opening, go to Server Settings in the browser and turn off the option to have the settings window automatically open.
This will only apply if you have selected one of the simulated devices in SGP.
Thank you Bob for your reply.
No device is selected in SGP, but the DOS window of OmniSimulator still open when SGP starts.
I see the DOS window opens, when SGP is saying establishing orbit.
I canât find server setting in browser, MS Edge.
I have the same issue with 4.5.0.1530
The following 3 windows open but minimized-
1- PegasusAstro ASCOM Drivers Hub â I have this switch
2- ASCOM.ASCOMOmniSim.Camera Driver
3- A window for C:\Program Files\ASCOM\OmniSimulator\ascom.alpaca.simulators.exe
Setting the ignore switches didnât resolve the pop-up windows.
Control panel > Switches > right click on any Omni switch entry > select the global settings > select switches to ignore.
Mike
If nothing is selected in SGP, yet the Omni SImulator starts when you start SGP, then I donât know why. Something is connecting to the devices.
However here are the switches in the Omni SImulatorâs setup window (web page) that control the DOS windowâs behavior and the web browser popup when starting. To get the web browser setup later open http://localhost:32323/
Hi Bob,
I checked and found the Open Browser on Start was unchecked. I set the console display to âNo Consoleâ and that stopped DOS window from starting. I do get the small ASCOM.ASCOMOmniSim.Camera Driver window but it is minimized and non-intrusive.
I can live with that.
Mike
Mine is also having Open Browser on start unchecked.
I followed Mike and set Console display to No Console, the DOS Windows does not come again when SGP starts.
OK the tiny window comes from the âconverterâ driver used to provide access from classic ASCOM to Alpaca which the Omni Simulator speaks. This is handled by the Chooser one time. Since SGP does not (yet) know how to speak Alpaca this little window is going to be there. Like you say itâs no bother.
But even though the console window is hidden something is still starting the simulators. YOu probably want to learn what that is. I canât solve that problem from here
Can we remove the OMNI simulator, and if so, does yhe âconverterâ window go away?
This is true and is caused by SGPro enumerating and inspecting the set of switches available to it. In SGPro 4.5, you can have SGPro completely ignore switches installed (including sims) and treat them as though there are not installed.
Ken â I hope you donât mind my butting in here. Iâm just concerned with an old wivesâ tale âASCOM 7 breaks SGP, so donât use itâ. Itâs hard for me to see through the detail but it appears that the Omni Simulatorâs Console (âDOSâ) window appearing when SGP is started is the issue. If SGP tries to look at any of those simulated devices, then it will start. The console can be made invisible, and the popup web browser can be suppressed.
Unlike classic ASCOM simulators , the Omni Simulator will not exit, and instead remain running, possibly invisible if so configured. If this is a chronic problem, Iâll bring it up with the developer to see if anything can be done.
You are wholly welcome to butt in whenever youâd like.
For sure. This is 100% an SGPro issue and is why we added the filter I noted above.
