These were for my AZEQ6, the settings should apply to your mount. It’s crucial that you set alignment to Dialogue based and clear out any existing pointing model.

I finally got out last night and here are the screen grabs of how I’ve got it set up for my AZ-EQ6.
This is on a Win10 machine with all the latest updates applied.

I have no problems with centering, either standard or after a flip.
Does the EQ8 have encoders and are they off in EQMOD? I had problems with them turned on, but this was ages ago, before I started with SGP.
I hope you can sort it out without having to stay on such an old version…
