Center on target

I have not yet tried this function in SGPro

If I input a Location (J2000) in Target Settings, will SGPro understand how to move my mount (CGX) if the first image captured does not show the target.

For example:
M81’s J2000 catalog location is: RA 09h 55m 33.2s DEC +69° 3′ 55″

But, when SGPro does its first plate solve, the solved location is (example):
M81’s J2000 solved location RA 09h 53m 00.0s DEC +69° 5′ 00″

The offset between the two values would be: RA 0h 2m 33.2s DEC 0° 2’ 5"

This will likely mean M81 is not in the image with an ASI294. Will SGPro understand the offset and move the mount to re-center?

SGPro knows the scope I am using, knows the imaging camera I am using so it should understand the offset error.

Yes, that is what the “Center on Target” does. it will:

1 - Slew the mount to the set coordinates
2- Take an image and plate solve the image
3 - Sync your mount
4 - Go back to 1

It will repeat until you run out of attempts or you are within the pixel criteria found on the Plate Solve Tab.

It is important to note that you should set the pixel error to something sane. Setting this very low will likely be difficult for most mounts to obtain. Most mounts are accurate to an arcminute or a little less.
