I have a number of sequences which were created for my Esprit 100 with and without reducer (550mm FL native, 357mm FL with reducer).
I have since bought the Vixen VSD90ss, which has a native FL of 495mm, and a reduced FL of 350mm.
Can i create new equipment profiles for the VSD90ss (including inputting the correct image pixel scale), and just “apply equipment profile to sequence” on the corresponding sequences which were meant for the Esprit 100? Such that i can use my existing targets in the sequences, and have my setup slew and platesolve onto the targets normally?
Would the plate solver choke on the 55mm FL difference? Or is there anything that i can change in the sequences (in the targets, for example) to reduce the chances of an error? Thanks!
Yes, this would be the simplest approach to get things moving with your new setup. I’d recommend backing up your sequences just in case and applying the profile data to the copy of the sequence. But in practice this is generally safe.
You would just update the Plate Solver information in the profile as well (arcseconds/pixel, etc) and then everything should be fine. That does assume that you have downloaded the appropriate files for plate solver to be able to handle the much wider FOV.
