Connecting a Trius SX825

Hi, I have just bought a Trius SX825 and although Windows seems to see it (Starlight Xpress CCD) is listed under USB Serial Bus Devices and SXV_Hmf_USB.exe (the software that bundles with the camera) see’s it, SGP doesn’t connect to it and I get the error “Error connecting to Starlight Xpress Main Camera” - it is listed in the devices so I guess I have the ASCOM drivers installed correctly.

Any idea’s what I have not done (or done wrong) please.

Kind regards

Richard

Hello

Now that you mention & that is true, I have SX-M25C CCD and when I try to connect via SGP I also get an error that the Version 6.2.1.17053 - which is a BETA ASCOM RELEASE and the BETA RELEASE HAS EXPIRED UPDATE YOUR DRIVER and then when I again retry to connect I also get the error “Error connecting to Starlight Xpress Main Camera” , I did already inform STARLIGHT EXPRESS by sending an email…

Going back to the ASCOM DRIVER Version 5.5.1 ( download it here sxCamera - Dad Dog Development Ltd. ) and my SXV M25C works with SGP again without any error,

Cheers

Martin

Hello,

Did contact STARLIGHT EXPRESS and also ASCOM GROUP, and I have already answer
that a new version for SXV ASCOM driver will be loaded in few days, check in few days… here

Cheers

Martin

Hi Martin, thanks for your help but I’m afraid, even after downgrading my version of ASCOM I still cannot connect, it certainly looks like an ASCOM issue as when I run the diagnostics for “device connection tester” I get the following output…

Hi Martin, I have it working!

Here is what I did just in case anyone else needs help…

  1. I updated ASCOM to the latest version (I was on 6.1) so now I am on 6.3.0.2831

  2. Installed the latest SX ASCOM drivers now out of beta and in production (but with the same file name which is a bit confusing when you’re trying to see them locally) - version 6.2.1.17123

  3. Ran the ASCOM Profile Explorer and located the camera/ASCOM.sxCameraq.Imaging0.Camera section and changed the “Enable Untested” value from “False” to “True” and closed the profile explorer (there is no save, just moving off of the field that you’re editing makes the change.

…I now have a working setup in SGP, but it was a bit of a slog, hopefully the new ASCOM driver will support this camera in the future as its still a current model.

Thank you so much for your help Martin, I wouldnt have started to look into ASCOM without your prompt.

Kind regards

Richard

Hello Richard,

You are very welcome, and by the way, I do also confirm, I also did update my SX ASCOM driver to version 6.2.1.17123 and also my SXV M25C works again with SGP PRO…

I just did install the new and recent ASCOM driver 6.2.1.17123, and did not do the steps you mention in your last answer, I only have to choose the GUIDER or CCD I have during ASCOM INSTALLATION process and thats it,. guess or maybe since you have an TRIUS ? and mine is an SXV M25C??

Important is, that we are back to have our CCD work… with SGP PRO…

Cheers and Clear Sky

Martin
