“EDS_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED” message with Canon 760D

Hi,

I was trying to connect my new EOS 760D camera in SGP (version 2.4.2.11) but get the error “Error in EdsOpenSession. Error: EDS_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED”. I have put the camera in manual mode so I think that is OK. Trying to connect with the Canon EOS Utility (version 3) works fine.

Can you give me some advice on what i’m doing wrong?

I think I solved the problem myself. I installed the EOS Utility from the supplied CANON DVD on my PC and copied the files EDSDK.dll and EdsImage.dll from the directory where the EOS utility was installed to the SGP directory. After that everything seems to work fine.

Would you be able to right click that file, go to the versions tab and post
what it says there. Seems like we might want to be distributing this new
version. Thanks.

The 2.4.3.10 beta now distributes EDSDK 3.2.20.2 (the latest Canon has available)

Hi Ken,

I have the problem back but now with a Canon 5D mark IV. The latest EDSDK.DLL is version 3.5.0.3.

Can you update the EDSDK files with the latest one’s?

Eventually. The new SDK is not compatible with our software so we reverted it.

Absolutely… we just need to find out why SGPro does not appear to be compatible with the latest SDK. Haven’t had time to do this yet, but we fully intend to continue support of Canon and Nikon.

Any update on the latest Canon SDK support for supporting the 5D markIV?

I’m new to SGP so may be doing something wrong but I’m getting this message with a 5d Mark IV also. The camera is in manual mode and it looks like it ought to work, but I’m getting the EDS_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED also. Any ideas on what I should do or is this really not a supported camera?

Ken announced a new version of SGP for the end of October that supports the new Canon SDK and which the new Canon Cameras should work with.

Thanks for the new update of 2.6.0.24. However I still encounter the same error with Canon 5D4.
