Error on application startup - after installing 755 beta 64bit

Just installed 755 beta 64bit with the “Launch on Finish” checked. Get an error during the application startup:

Did not get this yesterday when I installed 754 (and have not changed the sequence in that time). In fact same or similar sequence for last few beta installs.

Hello,

Same error message as Dave with the 755, did not exist with the 754.

@dnube @jols50 Would one of you be able to share your sequence and logs showing the sequence opening?

Error loading profiles in the log, only profiles created under 754

hope this helps you thank you

Patrick

Log files are rather large (but compress nicely). Seq file is probably a mess :=)

Dave

Thanks. I found it… Good and bad news. The bad news is that some of your sequences and equipment profiles are corrupted. The good news is that, if inclined, they are fairly easy to repair manually with a text editor. Apologies for this… beta life.

NOTE: Make sure to install beta 757 before doing this or SGPro will continue to corrupt the sequence.

Files affected: SGPro files with suffixes sgf and sgp
When to use: Anytime you are greeted with an error that tells you SGPro was unable to resolve the type kf

How to fix:

  • Open the file in a text editor. Windows Notepad is fine, but you’ll have a better time with a (free) editor like VSCode by Microsoft.
  • Using text search, search for devicecache
  • When found, all you need to do is delete it. To delete, remove the deviceCache text and then everything afterward from { to }, (note the comma). Remove the stuff in the red box:

Beta 756 will be available as soon as I can verify that SGPro is no longer writing corrupted saves,

Fix worked for me (SGP 757 no longer barfs on opening sequence file/crashes). Was easy enough to edit in Wordpad.

Dave

Unfortunatly it didn’t work out in my case.

Ken could you please take a look at my file? I do not have the original file anymore, forgot to make a backup before editing it…

Thanks

You just deleted a bit too much is all… JSON files are very sensitive

Great! Thanks it works again
