Failed Meridian Flip - v2.4 - HEQ5 Mount EQMOD

I have been having difficulties with failed meridian flips with the following error, I am using an HEQ5 mount and have been having very inconsistent results with Meridian Flips.

Sequence Generator v 2.4.0.2773, Win7 XP 64, HEQ5 EQMOD

Not sure if this is relevant but I was helping a friend set up dome geometry yesterday and it looks as if the pier Side that EQMOD returns is the wrong way round, East when it should be West and so on. We had to set the OTA offset negative to get the dome position close to sensible.

That’s could cause problems with SGP’s pier flip.

I was just having the same problems with a similar setup. My logs look almost exactly like yours. After a lot of trial and error and searching I found somethings that might be of some help. Are you running the latest version of EQMOD? You have to set side of pier to physical. Do this in the driver setup, you have to be disconnected from the mount to do this.

From what I can see this should be OK as long as you are South of a line from the East to the pole to the West. Meridian flips should be OK but synchronising a dome north of this will be wrong.

Chris

I checked and saw that my side of pier was indeed physical but I was
apparently using JNOW…

So two issues I had to fix in order for the Meridian Flip to work if it helps someone…

1-My mount was set for JNOW, I changed it to J2000
2-More importantly, EQMOD had a mount limit set a bit before the mount reaches meridian. Solution was to set the mount limits to just past meridian such that SGP can initiate the meridian flip.

Thanks for the help.
