Filter Wheel docking module bug?

All aspects of SGP works fine for me in the field, but today I wanted to take flats indoors, so I hooked up my ASI filter wheel and camera still on my OTA to my laptop and loaded the current sequence. I connected only the camera and FW and turned off autoguiding. When I tried to change filters through the docked FW module, it would indicate “changing”, but it would not change the indicated active filter. However, if I went to the filter wheel tool icon on the sequence panel, it readily moved and so indicated the change of filter, but the docked module continued to show “Changing”. Regardless of what the FW module indicated, the filter wheel had moved and I had the filter indicated by the sequence panel tool icon pop-up box. I don’t normally manually change filters through SGP in the field, so I don’t know if this is a general problem or specific to having only the FW and camera connected, or something I did wrong.

I’m having the exact same issue only worse. ZWO filter wheel, and a Rigel nStep controller. If I change filters inside the ascom driver it works fine, but if I attempt to change filters using the docking module I get the ‘changing’ but no filter change. But it does make my Rigel auto focuser run away. It is consistent too. I have no idea what the filter wheel module has to do with my auto focuser but it is a pain in the butt. I have shut everything down and start over from scratch. I did re-install both drivers but it didn’t fix anything.

I now avoid the filter wheel docking module like the plague…

Well I found the problem. Boy can this hobby make you feel dumb sometimes. Normally when you switch filters, the indicator states ‘MOVING’. But in my case and the OP the indicator stated ‘CHANGING’. It turns out ‘CHANGING’ signifies its changing the focus position of the auto focuser as indicated by filter offsets. I had some offsets in my filter setup that were no longer relevant. Thus what I was seeing as a runaway auto focuser.

As the OP said if you switch filters through the ascom driver it bypasses the filter offsets.
