Had trouble using autofocus with the Iris nebula last time out. Its a long focal length/small fov, so perhaps not surprising - not many stars, and picks up bright area of nebula as a star. Plus bright moon (intent was to do narrow band, but need full band to do focusing). Tried increasing the focus exposure length but it did not help.
So next time I will try the Focus Target thing. As I understand it, will need to turn off autofocus. Then just pick a good star field nearby for the “focus target”.
Questions:
- When I “Goto Focus”, I can then manually kick off an autofocus run (remote operation)?
- After focusing is complete, if I hit “Goto Target” will this include a platesolve? Or will I need to manually run a “Center Now” process?
