Get Canon shutter button error

I just set up parallels on my MacbookPro and everything connects fine. I can use frame and focus with Canon 5DMKIII in bulb mode, but when I try to run a sequence I get the following error:

Same set up worked before on straight pc. What am I doing wrong?

That error means that the camera either wants an SD card inserted, or wants it removed. Sounds, silly, but try the opposite of what you had when you saw this error.

Ok. I will take cards out. Didn’t need thst before.

Another thought might be I need to pick a directory that sg can write to. I found with my fuuid camera that wile I can pick any directory it will only write to a directory I believe is is in the parallels environment. The directory should be, but will check this to.

This could be right. I’m actually not sure of all the conditions that cause the Canon drivers to emit this error.

For Canon, driver will not write to a network drive, only a local drive (from my Windows environment experience). Not sure how this might be interpreted by your parallels configuration but if the driver thinks path is not to a “local” drive, it might result in this error.

This was a very annoying “feature” of the canon driver/hardware use with SGP (I have since moved on to another camera). :=)

It is because it thinks it is writing to a network drive. I tried it with and without memory cards, no joy. I then specifically made sure I was saving to a parallels only drive and it worked. So word of caution, be sure that your location is specific to Parallels even though you can see most any drive/location on the Mac. This will hold true for any camera I believe. At least it does with my ZWO ASI174MM Monno and Canon.
