GNS waiting

When I first started to use GNS with SGP I was receiving updates as each image completed and downloaded. Now, however, GNS connects and waits… meanwhile, SGP is (I believe) capturing my images. GNS loads when I startup SGP, shows ‘green’, which I presume means it is communicating. But SGP v3.0.3.169 apparently is not telling it anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

greg latiak

Are you referring to the little status text area on the GNS window? If so, please check that you have at least one type of message selected for transmit to GNS.

The message types are in the larger window on the right side:

No. All message types are selected in sgp or were when i set it up. Used to receive a running status on the phone, now just get waiting. Do your updates ALL wipe this config? Or just the ones where there is a warning? Besides, i have downloaded but not installed a newer version.

Greg

Hi Greg,

green in the phone means the communications are up and running. If just waiting, that should imply the windows program is not receiving further information from SGP or anywhere else.

Which is extremely strange if you have not updated anything.

Not clear on what you mean here.

The notification settings.

Right, I got that. I don’t understand what you are asking. What do you mean when you ask if ALL the updates wipe the config? Are you asking of the notifications for GNS will be wiped if you install 3.1?

Ken,
The question was a general one. Namely, unless it is specified in the release notes, is it ‘safe’ to assume that applying an update will preserve my program configurations?

As for this particular issue, I had forgotten that 3.1.316 had been installed… and yes, the GNS settings were gone. Seems to be working normally now.

As an aside, it would be helpful if there was a way to define a ‘from’ when using an email notification… both of my email providers now block emails from Anonymous.

Generally, yes. This particular beta changed a lot in terms of how we save and restore data so there may be some issues still.

I think you were seeing this (from release notes):

I M P O R T A N T ! (if you use notifications like GNS or Email)
This release (3.1.0.289) will cause you to lose your notification settings. That said, there is a way to capture what you did have, please see here: Installing beta 283 wiped out Notification info

SGPro does not send anonymous emails. Every email sent is from “monitoring@mainsequencesoftware.com”. Is it possible that your providers are blocking emails with mismatched sender / from fields. I have altered this code a little to use the “SMTP username” as the “From” (if it is an email address… if not, use the address above). Not sure if that will resolve the issues, but you can give it a try in the next beta.

Thanks, Ken.

Sorry to be a pain.
