I realize the title isn’t worded really well so please let me expain. When my sequence begins and it calibrates the auto guider I will see that PHD2 starts to guide but SGP still says that it is calibrating… minutes go by and sometimes it seems like forever before SGP seems to see that calibration is completed.
Open the Control panel, click on Auto Guide and see what your Settle at is set at. and if the check box is ticked for the amount of seconds.
As a guide (no pun) I am using a QHY5L-II on a 60mm guidescope, confgiured in PHD2 all ok. My settings in SGP are Settle at 0.6 pixels and the checkbox is NOT checked.
Typically, i set PHD2 going first, then when the sequence starts it checks and only takes a matter of seconds before the images start.
Hi Michael,
If are using pulse guiding, there is no need to re-calibate the guider. I only re-calibrate if I make any changes to my hardware like rotating the camera…which I never do. I just calibrate as close to the intersection of the meridian and the celestial equator and it is calibrated for where ever I point my scope.Just make sure the button for “Re-calibrate auto guider when target changes” on the auto guider tab in the control panel or Equipment Profile is unchecked.
If you are not using pulse guiding (ST4) then yes, you need to calibrate for each location.
Good point…I am so used to a permanent setup I forgot. When I used to drag my rig out every night I would do a PA then calibrate with PHD. This was all done before I even opened SGP. SGP never attempted to to calibrate then.
