I 've been testing over the weekend

I’m a disabled amateur astronomer with some new gear and a lil’ green when it comes to using Sgpro2.6 , I’m sure glad that I tried the “Lite version” first . LITE gave me some experience to get connected and start shooting sequences after Jared got me going , thank you without your guidance I still would have been pecking around kicking the dirt . I can’t say enough about this software, it’s pretty easy to navigate once you know the steps to getting connected 2 nights ago was my 1st full sequence on M42 , everything was going good until my EFW changed filters 3 out of 4 , “knocked it out of focus” and I had to babysit the mount until the sequence was over. I tightened the tension grub screw on my crayford11:1 low profile on my 8 in astrograph before the session and all I can think of is , it didn’t hold through the sequence . Any helpful ideas? Image train Zwo asi174MM cooled+efw mini5+ 15mm extension with a 1mm spacer Paracorr t2 lens assembly . How tight is to tight , when I start getting flexure?

It is pretty normal for filters to change the optical path enough for focus to shift. If you’re running a computer controlled focuser you can have auto focus run when the filter changes. Otherwise you’ll probably need to manually focus on filter change. Also focus will shift through the night until the temperature settles…so you’ll probably need to re-focus every few frames until it settles.

All this can be managed through the auto focus settings in SGP if you have a PC controlled focuser.

Thanks,
Jared

Thank you Jared , I’ve got a moonlite focuser for the astograph on my list for Xmas.

Hi! You can also enter filter offsets into SGP, so no need to run autofocus every time you change filters.

Naavis , where and how would I do that? I’ve only used SGPro 2 nights and there’s so many Bells & Whistles that I still have to go through. I do need to learn how to use the offset feature if that’s what it’ll take to get r dun. Ronnie

If you’re manually focusing there’s not much to do at the moment except refocus every once in a while until the temperature stabilizes or when you switch filters. Once you get a stepper focuser then you’ll have lots of options.

Thanks,
Jared

Once you get a stepper-controlled focuser, you can enter the relative focus positions for each filter in the Filter Setup Dialog: About Sequence Generator Pro

Thank you that’s what I thought , Since my imaging train has changed my guiding is very sporadic and I’m trying to get it to settle down but, it’s been a test in patience .

Naavis , thank you for your guidance.
