Info for observatory automation

Hello,
I’m interested to buying SGP for my observatory.
I have a Roll Off Roof system with Scopedome Arduino Card automation.
I’d like to know if the SGP has the possibility to handle this Scopedome card to automate everything?

If there is an ASCOM driver for the roll off roof then SGP can control it. But if not you or the creator of the ScopeDome Arduino project would need to make the ASCOM driver. For Roll Off Roofs it is pretty simple actually.

The system does not actually open and close the roof but controls everything from switching on to closing the roof.

I use SGP with a roll off roof of my own design. The ASCOM driver requires a minimum of roof status, open and close commands. The roof controller supplier should be able to confirm this.

If your roof could potentially hit a telescope as it moves, then it is advisable to check that the ASCOM driver or roof driver have some safeguards, using sensors, to ensure the mount is parked safely beforehand, or prevented from slewing into a closed roof.

You can cross your fingers and just hope software never fails - but things happen.
