Issue with ASCOM platform 713.4851

Hello - I recently updated my ASCOM platform to 713.4851. I am running SGP 4.5.0.1652. When I try and start SGP it “stalls” in the “Establishing Orbit” phase and I eventually get an error message:

"Exception creating ASCOM.JustAHub.Switch

Unable to create Type for ProgID ASCOM.Simulator.Switch: Unable to create an instance of the Switch with ProgID ASCOM.Simulator.Switch: Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID

(DOEFCD2B-00D6-42B6-9F16-795CF09FBEE8) from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80131604 Uncaught exception thrown by method called through Reflection. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131604)."

This is the same error I got last spring when I first tried to update ASCOM to platform 7.1. Since I had to image that evening I uninstalled the platform and went back to platform 6.2. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

I will also post this in the ASCOM help site. Thanks for any suggestions

Bruce

UPDATE 10/1/2026: Issue solved. Peter Simpson (ASCOM) suggested I go into ASCOM Diagnostics / options and uncheck the box “Use Omni-Simulators as Platform Simulators”. This got rid of the error message but SGP was extremely slow loading up (10 min!) and even then was sluggish/nonresponsive. Normally SGP loads in 5 sec or so. It just appeared that something was keeping these two (ASCOM and SGP) from communicating. Finally I decided to temporarily disable my anti-virus software (Webroot). That is all it took. SGP fired right up and worked great. I then went into Webroot and made a change to allow processes to access the internet unless explicitly blocked.
So, all is good again.
