J2000 versus J2050

Just curious… Usually the Jxxxx is updated every 50 years and when it is most programs start using the new one, e.g., J2000.
In mid-2025 we’ll be closer to J2050 than J2020. Will SGP and other programs start using J2050?
I realize this is several years off, but time flies when we’re having fun in Astronomy!

I think we would just move to a more full JNow implementation. Currently SGP uses J2000 internally and converts to JNow if the mount reports it supports JNow. There should not be anything lost between J2000 and JNow.

We do not use JNow internally at the moment just because that would require storing the date of the coordinates as well.
