To view this as it is intended, your monitor should be calibrated; so that the lightest and darkest boxes in the test box are practically invisible and the neighbouring boxes are very faint.

Thanks. It’s not a particular popular subject and the web is dominated by the awesome Hubble-based images, which combine X-Ray data too, giving wonderful 3-D swirls.
