Need HELP migrating Equipment Profiles from old to new computer

I would appreciate learning how to migrate or transfer Equipment Profiles and Sequences in SGP from one laptop to another. Thank you in advance for your guidance.
Phil

This is pretty easy, but figuring what folders the data is in can be fussy.

On my system, profiles (.sgp, .sgu) are stored in a different location from sequences (.sgf)

To find your profiles, Navigate to your Tools menu and select the General option. In that dialog box you can see where SGP has been set to save Profiles. I believe the default folder is \Users<yourUserID>\AppData\Local\SequenceGenerator\SeguenceGeneratorPro. .sgu and .sgf files will be therein unless you changed the default save folder.

If you’ve made changes to the folder to save profiles in different places over time, you may have scattered profiles over several folders. Take a look at where your SGP is set up to save profiles, then use Explorer to look into those folders and find your profiles.

Look in the user guide for “General Options” for details

Sequence files are stored somewhere else in my computer, in my <user>\Documents\SGP folder. I think that is the default storage location in SGP, as it is set up that way on two different computers and I don’t remember changing it. And so far I’ve not found anything in the users guide that talks about where sequence files are saved or how it is set. You can choose “Save as” in the file save menu and specify another location, but I have not found a place where it is set as a default like in the /Tools/General/ dialog box

Once you track down your profile and sequence files, you can simply copy them over to your second computer. Either reinstall them in the default folder paths or set new directory paths locally from within SGP.

I sure would like to know where sequence filing is documented in the help user guide. Until I tried to answer this question I did not realize that sequence files are stored in a different location. This has been a useful homework problem!

Hi Dan,

Thank you very much for taking time to point me in the right direction. I sincerely appreciate it.

Wishing you clear skies!!

Phil

What I typically recommend is to store your profiles in DropBox (or similar). You can do this by going to the Tools>>Options window in SGP and selecting the Profile storage location. This works well to sync Profiles between multiple machines.

Thanks,
Jared

Thank you Jared!!!
