Hi
New here and on the trial. How do I add my Apogee Alta U9 camera and Moonlite Nightcrawler focuser/rotator and my autoguider(Atik)? It’s not in the drop down list. Can you point me to a getting started area?
Thanks
There are extensive instructions in the HELP files AND just “Google” getting started with SGP to find lots of online help from various people. For your immediate problem - if SGP does not have native drivers for your gear, then you must install ASCOM drivers for for the equipment you have.
Hi Carl - during lockdown, I made a series of videos to help folks such as yourself.
hope it helps
Hi
Thanks for the reply. I’m having problems adding equipment to the profile. I originally started with MaxIM. I can use my Apogee camera and can see my Atik guider but MaxIM will not use the Atik camera to guide, it’s as if the camera is not communicating with the mount(AP 1200 GTO). So then I was using Phd2 to guide but couldn’t dither. So I was hoping this would be an option for my equipment driver issues.
So my equipment is in their respective directories, how do I get SGP to see them? Must I reinstall? Just very frustrated with being able to use the equipment in some programs but not others. I’ll keep trying to add the drivers.
Thanks again
Hi
I have been able to add the rotator/focuser but still am unable to add the Apogee and Atik cameras. I’m just frustrated that I can see the imaging camera in MaxIM but not the guider but I can use the guider camera in Phd2 and I can’t find either camera in SGP. I’ll keep trying with driver install programs.
You are giving very little information about what you have or have not done. I know nothing about the Apogee camera but I do have an Atik camera that works fine with SGP. So…for a start, have you downloaded the drivers etc. from the Atik site…Atik Cameras Software Downloads - Atik Cameras
Once you install (the Core Software link) and reboot your computer…the Atik camera should be in your dropdown list.
Let us know if you have done that and how things appear.
Sorry but just venting my frustration. I can connect the Atik camera now but still can not connect the Apogee U9. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers, changing usb cords and then where they plug into and still no Apogee camera is a choice.
As I said above - I know nothing of the Apogee camera or its driver…so cannot help you there. Perhaps Apogee camera users here (if any) might chime in with some advice.
Thx, hope someone knows a simple way to add the camera.
Thx again for your help
Carl
Carl,
Have you installed the ASCOM drivers for the Apogee? As for ATIK, I am running a 383L+ for my main camera and installed their ASCOM drivers and it was available in SGP drop down. I use a Lodestar for my autoguider and same thing, had to load the ASCOM driver.
Pete
Hi Pete
I’m very frustrated with these drivers. I can guide in Phd2 but not MaxIM. MaxIM sees the 414ex but it looks as if the camera will not communicate with my AP 1200 mount. I’m calling MaxIM people again tomorrow, but it just seems silly if I have to buy another guide camera. There is a few good nights of weather, I just set my observatory up, and I’m have guide problems. Really wanted to use the good weather we are having here. I’ve tried NINA and it will not recognize my Apogee camera. It shouldn’t be this difficult. Sorry to complain-still over on the west side of the state?
No worries Carl, I can understand the frustration. Seems like SGP should work with all your gear. If PHD can connect to the 414ex and 1200GTO and guide then it should be just a matter of getting the Apogee going with SGP. Does the Apogee show up in ASCOM Profile Explorer program? Not sure on MaxIM since I use SGP nowadays, hopefully their support can resolve this. I am on the west side, but now down south of Kzoo under darker skies. Are you still on the East side?
