No meridian flip performed

This night I discovered my telescope trying to perform the meridian flip with no succes. SEveral times this night.

We’d need more detail to provide meaningful feedback here (i.e. phrased in a way that helps explain what happened vs your expectations).

In the absence of that we’re happy to provide general feedback:

  • The logs start at 22:45
  • You indicated that the time of the issue was at 22:47 though I see nothing of interest at that time.
  • The mount reports that it is already on the east all the way until 00:32 (i.e. mount will never flip while tracking during 22:45 - 00:32
  • At 00:45 the mount begins reporting it is on the west (i.e. now eligible for flip but not for another ~3.5 hrs)
  • Sequence runs normally through 04:23. At this point, there are just a little more than 8 minutes left until flip.
  • Before the flip can happen, the guide star is lost at approximately the same time and is unable to start the next frame.
  • SGPro enters recovery mode and fails repeatedly

More context is required to make an actual diagnosis, but I have thoughts:

  • It seems clear why there was no flip during normal sequencing through 00:32
  • That said, my initial thought was that the recovery sequence should have initiated a flip at ~04:53 but it did not. I looked into this and, at this time the mount is STILL reporting ~8 min to flip. The only way this number can freeze like this is if the mount has stopped tracking.
  • A hard stop in tracking matches the symptoms at 04:23 when the guide star is lost. The star is reported as “a little lost”, but rather “very lost” at one point reporting it is more than 700 pixels from the guide star.

So… if I had to guess, I’d say that the mount hit some kind of hard stop as neared the meridian, but that would be an external driver limitation that SGPro logs are not able to see.

If you want to provide additional context, we can provide guidance.
