Yikes. Yes SGP was opened, no equipment was attached, but several attempts were made to TEST the notifications . Could it be a Firewall setting ?? I did notice that if you google the port settings , it is different from what SGP auto fills. I tried 3 different port settings.
Just tested with my Hotmail account and your settings look good. Here’s what I used.
I also used smtp-mail.outlook.com and that was also successful. I followed this guide:
The only thing I did was to enable POP3 email in my hotmail account.
Other than that it sounds like maybe SGP isn’t getting through to Outlook. You can try running SGP as an Admin to see if that works. If it does that likely means that when SGP was installed the firewall exception was denied.
Certainly worth a try! At this point I’m not really sure what else it could be. Your settings seem ok. As long as your email and password are correct it should be working. Also I assume you turned on POP3 in hotmail?
It comes with SGP. You’d have to reinstall SGP. I doubt it’s a problem with the Notification System. Probably something in your system that is preventing it. But it’s worth a shot.
appreciate all the help. I did just do the latest update the other day…as I mentioned, I had to replace my Hard Drive and they installed a new, different Virus program (McAfee) …before that everything was AOK.
I got it to work properly. Apparently it was my McAfee Virus not allowing it to work. I had to delete the entire Virus protection program and download Norton from my internet provider. Works just fine now !!
Thanks so much for all your help. Hopefully this information will help someone else in the future .
