I’ve had problems installing SGP and I don’t understand the cause…
I’ve uninstalled the beta versions and tried to install the stable version
I always get this message
Jared can you tell me what’s wrong?
Thanks

This is almost certainly because the profiles and sequence opened with the SGPro 4.5 beta are now no longer compatible with older versions. You’ll need to restore the backups you made of your sequences and profiles in order to use versions before SGPro 4.5 now.
Hi, I have uninstalled all of SGP (non-beta version) and reinstalled the SGP beta version (from December 8th). I must be doing something wrong because SGP is not working properly. I’ll explain it to you with screenshots…
the first… options …
where I tell it which folder the images should go to and where the profiles should go.
At that moment I get this error message
press ok and continue …
then I choose User profile manager (tools/user profile manager)
I then try to choose a team profile manager and I get this error message
I press OK and the profile chooser screen appears
I try to choose one of them to change it and I get this error message
Since none of them work for me, I try to create a new profile and a dialog box opens asking me for the name for a new profile.
I press ok but the new profile DOES NOT APPEAR in the list of profiles.
And this is where I am stuck, it does not let me choose one of those already registered or modify them to enter my equipment (camera, filter wheel, etc.)
Can you tell me where the error is or what I am doing wrong?
There is no way, I have tried everything I know about Windows, including cleaning the regedit of all the entries that mention sequence generator, installing the 32-bit beta version (just in case) and there is no way, always the same error messages.
Your sequences and profiles seem to be corrupted. It looks like the screenshots were taken with SGPro 4.5 beta?
A thing I have not tested that may be to blame. Did you do the following:
This sequence of actions will likely corrupt a profile and you’re welcome to send us the sgp
file so we can inspect it.
In terms of the issue with the new profiles.
When I replicate what you did with the new test profile
name, there are no apparent issues and in the bottom left corner I see this:
Do you see anything similar? There may be a bug in the beta that hide a certain kind of error accidentally, but may record it in the logs. Can you:
test profile.sgp
? At least we can know how far it got before failingIn sumary:
test profile.sgp
fileWell first what you asked me
apo_100_zwo.sgp (40.4 KB)
The version installed on my PC is beta
I really don’t know what to do anymore, I don’t understand why the profile manager gets corrupted.
The profile you sent seems to open fine, but it also seems to be essentially empty so I’m unsure about that one. In any case, you’ll want to focus on rebuilding profiles at this point and I am unsure why you’re unable to create a new profile.
test profile
dis SGPro make a file named test profile.sgp
?Another alternative is to find an older, sequence that has never been opened in SGPro 4.5, open it and then use the Save sequence as profile
options. This will probably get you almost an exact replica of the corrupted profile with very little effort.
I’ll answer you between the lines…
The profile you sent seems to open fine, but it also seems to be practically empty, so I’m not sure about that. In any case, you’ll need to concentrate on rebuilding profiles at this point and I’m not sure why you can’t create a new profile.
That’s not entirely true since it doesn’t appear as a profile in the list. I’d also like to know how to create a new profile myself but I don’t know how to do it…
Regarding the attempt to create test profile, does SGPro make a file called test profile.sgp?
It won’t let me create it
Can you send logs showing the error when creating a new profile?
If you tell me what you want me to send you (what file) I’ll gladly do it, another thing I can send you is a screenshot.
Another alternative is to find an older sequence that has never been opened in SGPro 4.5, open it and then use the Save sequence as profileoptions. This will probably allow you to get a nearly exact replica of the damaged profile with very little effort.
When I uninstalled sgp pro (either the stable version or the beta version) I deleted all the files on the PC’s hard drive (including the app data).
I don’t know if it would be better if you could remotely log into my PC one day and see for yourself what’s going on (I don’t really understand). If you’re willing to do that, let me know.
Please open SGPro, attempt to create a new profile and reproduce the failure you describe above. Then you can send the logs to us directly from within the SGPro app. Further guidance is here:
An accompanying screenshot would be great, but not in place of the logs. Ideally you could send both.
