Plate Solve 2 failing to solve

For some reason I cant get Plate Solve 2 to solve near the cresent nebula - NGC6888 - If I slew over to Vega it solves fine and I normally dont have any issues with plate solving. I uploaded the problem image to the online Astrometry service and below is the annotated result, as you can see NGC6888 is pretty much centre, so why cant Plate Solve 2 solve it? It does eventually fail over and use the local Astrometry solution but thats very slow and time consuming…

That’s interesting. ASTAP solved your Crescent image in 5 seconds but PlateSolve 2 will not, at least on my machine. You might give ASTAP a try as you will never look back.

Ok, will set it up this morning and see how it goes!

Thats it installed, 0.7s to solve that image! Wonder why Plate Solve 2 wont do it?

Have you tried to reduce your exposure time for this section of the sky? It’s been suggested elsewhere that too many stars may throw PS2 off.

Ah, never thought of that, will see how I get on with ASTAP as it seemed faster anyway

I replaced PS2 with ASTAP a few months ago for the same reason and never had any problems again.
