Am I missing something or is it not possible to simply plate solve without being connected to the mount? I just want to take an image, and plate solve it. SGP should then just tell me where it is pointed at (RA, DEC). Is this not possible?

You can right click on the image and select Plate Solve.
Oh. Did not think of right-clicking the image. Thanks.
You may need to give plate solve a hint when not connected to a mount. If there is an NGC, M or IC object in the vicinity the scope is pointing to, you can add that object in the “object” field. otherwise it will need to blind solve and it could take a while.
Unless it’s a previously acquired image that has the information in the fits header then it should solve just fine.
