I recently upgraded to SGP ver 4.5.
I use ASTAP for platesolving. I have a Pegasus Rotator so I do adjust the rotation of the image box
Previously (using ver 4.4) when I ran platesolve, ASTAP would command my mount to slew to the desired RA/DEC. Then it would take an image. It would then determine the RA/DEC error and the rotation error, command the Pegasus rotator to adjust angle and command the mount to correct RA/DEC. It then would take another image and determine the new RA/DEC and angle error. It does this until the RA/DEC error is <50 pixels and angle is <1 deg (my settings). This never takes more than three attempts.
I now find that when I invoke platesolving, both RA/DEC and rotator angle are commanded first, then an image is taken. Angle error is always zero.
I do not understand how the angle error could be zero without knowing the initial angle of the rotator?
Has Ver 4.5 done something to the platesolving process or is there a change with ATSAP or my rotator ?? I know the rotator has two settings for angle ‘sky and mechanical’ and I am not sure which to use.
