Platesolve2 in SGP - Estimating Background Step is Slow

Hi there,

I’m using Platesolve2 in SGP and have noticed the step ‘estimating background’ is slow. The actual solve works and is very fast. It’s just the first step that takes longer to complete. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? I’m using a mono cooled camera with 10 second lum exposures for the plate solving.

Two items that impact this, resolution and sky background brightness, the first you can solve with binning, the second with shorter exposures …

Thanks for the advice. I reduced the exposure to 5 seconds and also reduced the gain. It’s now much quicker.
