Approx time of issue: 10:00 PM

Useful Info

OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Ver: 4.5.0.1652 (64-bit)
.NET: 4.8
ASCOM: 7.1.3.4851

There isn’t any special code or handlers for this focuser… to SGPro it’s just a normal ASCOM focuser and 4.5.0.1652 does not appear to have any issues with focuser connections.

I’m not certain what issue you are encountering but, to SGPro, it looks like a timeout (i.e. SGPro asks the focuser to connect but it does not respond).

If you have done all the standard troubleshooting (cables, power cycle etc) and the issue still persists, we can get a peek at the driver side to get a better understanding of what is happening using trace logs. You can enable ASCOM trace logs here:

Also, as a note, you can use the same ASCOM Diagnostics tool to connect to your focuser outside of SGPro. It uses the same mechanism to establish a connection and will readily tell you if the issue is in SGPro or somewhere outside of it.

Thanks Ken, I went through the usual tracing routine, checked the comport etc, I finally solved the issue when mysteriously a “UART” port appeared on the Ascom side, it’s not Com5. How did I get there? I have no idea! Once it was connected I forged ahead with hours of SGP routine. Whew, hope it sticks! Thanks Jeff
