I sometimes want to stop a sequence and restart it from scratch, maybe with a different exposure length or number of subs. All it seems to want to do is resume the current one. Even when I select “abort”, the progress bar for a frame stays there. How can I accomplish this?
Under the Sequence menu there are multiple options about how to reset your sequence. It sounds like you want the full reset which is Reset Sequence:
