SGP and OAG's!

Hey all,

It’s been a long hiatus for me from Astro imaging but I am back. LOLOL

A review of my imaging setup which includes a 10” Newt (1016mm FL) and the ‘Orion awesome autoguider’ bolted to the side, I find myself considering moving to an OAG system to rid myself of the extra weight on the mount.

I’m curious how well SGP works in an OAG situation compared to having a guide scope bolted to the side as it’s quite a different situation. I always used to use PHD2 and ST4 to my EQ6-Pro for the guiding and an old QHY8L as the imaging camera and it all worked quite well, converting to OAG setup is no cheap trick so I wanted to put the feelers out to SGP user experiences as I refuse to use any other software. LOLOL

Many Thanks for any guidence on offer

Paul

I don’t think SGP knows or cares if you have an OAG or separate guide scope, nor can I think of any reason it should care. In fact, SGP doesn’t even interact with the guide scope - PHD 2 does.

Anyhow, an OAG works well and eliminates flexture problems.
