I’ve been off the grid for a few years now and trying to get up to date. Specifically I have a MyT mount and the SkyX which I have used mostly successfully in the past with some issues associated with Now/J2000 issues. Specifically I’m looking for the recommended settings to use in the Ascom driver and under the the Equipment manager, in particular, the Sync behavior setting.
I’m pretty sure that I need to check the “inhibit Sync to protect Tpoint model” but am unsure about “Enable Tracking offsets”, or even what that actually means.
In the Equipment Profile Manager under Sync behavior can someone educate me as to not only what the appropriate choice should be but what the choices mean. I like to know not only what to do but why.
If there is already a good link that discusses this, that would be great, but I haven’t found anything by searching the forums.
H Marty, I use SGP with MyT and MX. For sync settings, disable sync in the TSX ASCOM settings and in SGP, choose the ‘target offset’ sync method.
95% of the time I am within 3 pixels after one correction.
Thanks for the reply. A few years back there were some issues with sync and I believe Meridian flips. Something about SGP had to Sync before flipping and that could screw things up somehow. Does the above settings allow auto meridian flips?
Completely, I do it all the time, but you can get caught out.
I have my TSX slew limits set to about +/-30 and the meridian limits in SGP to about +/-10.
In TSX there is a meridian flip line with a red square box on it. If it is not lying on the meridian, it can create a dead zone that will prevent a flip. I think the setting is in Bisque TCX - set this to zero, or enable dragging and drag to meridian.
