SGP and WIFI

Can SGP be used to control my scope and accessories with a WIFI module connected to my scope/accessories?

Hi,

I use ethernet to control a camera and accessories on one PC from another networked computer running SGP. I suppose it will work fine with WIFI but be slower.

Here is what is needed: a second PC with wifi at the mount, wired to the items you want to control. Install all ASCOM drivers and make sure they work. Install Remote Server from the ASCOM initiative and setup with above drivers. Run remote server. From the PC with the SGP program, run ASCOM Diagnostics and Choose/Choose and select device. Enable Alpaca discovery and select discover now.It shouild find every device you setup in remote server. Then connnect to the device and ASCOM should set it up. If not, then check Windows Defender and turn off if necessary and ch3ck that on Remote Server you selected “listen on all ports” (something like that). Get everything connected before opening SGP. Then open SGP and find the Alpaca devices in the Equipment Profiler and setup. Your off and running. Until devices come with their own Alpaca drivers, this is the only way to run a telescope setup remotely with SGP.

Clear Skies,

Paul
