I recently bought a Falcon rotator and it works great right out of the box with its native software. I’ve been bench testing everything inside before I head out with the next clear night. I’m not sure SGP is recognizing the Falcon. I keep the standalone software running as directed by the ASCOM popup when I hit settings, but there is no angle that shows up in the rotator module and SET is greyed out as shown in the screenshot. I’m assuming this is something that I can test before getting out and shooting an actual sequence? It’s cold in eastern Oregon and I’m trying to minimize my fussing around time out there! What am I missing here?
I bought the same rotator from Pegasus and I found the although I do not have any other Pegasus hardware, I use the Unity SW as it has updated drivers. Secondly, I start the Unity software before I connect it in SGP and after I connect it in SGP, I move the rotator 5 to 10 degrees in either direction. I too have NA in the rotator panel in SGP. Once I move the rotator in Unity, the degrees populate in SGP. You can also just set the degree in SGP and it will more to that location. As long as you see the connect icon turn green in SGP you should be good for the night. One other point, even with the Unity if it fails to recognize the rotator, so I unplug the usb and let it load back in and it always works.
If you see this, one thing I neglected to mention is in December when I first used the Falcon and ran a sequence, the rotator/SGP couldn’t find the rotation. If that happens, just reverse the direction in the Pegasus SW and everything should work fine.
