SGP reverted to trial version after recent windows update

After recent windows update my paid for version of SGP has reverted to trial version.
How do I get it back ?

Thanks,

Dave

It depends on what version of SGPro you are using

Hi Ken using Version 3.0.0.7

Dave

So how do I restore my SGP Ken ?

Dave

Dave,
You’ll need to use the 3.2 release and the new licensing system. You should have received an email about this about a month ago when we changed licensing servers which contained your username and password for the new system.

Jared

Downloaded 3.2 and registration screen appears says trial version days left then disappears and nothing happens

Dave

It’s made a folder in program files x86 but it doesn’t appear in the list of installed programs

Dave

Do you have ASCOM 6.5 installed? If you were using SGPro 3.0 last, I can’t remember what version of ASCOM that required, but it was a while ago.

Yes I have ASCOM 6.5 installed, do you mean I have to install an older version of ASCOM ?
Can I have two different versions of ASCOM installed ? I thought if I installed a later version it removed the earlier one.

Dave

So how am I going to SGP V3.2.0613 working ?

Dave

We will need more information. Screenshots, logs, etc. It is not entirely sure what issue you are having. Did you claim you new activation code yet? What happens when you attempt to activate?

I have the new activation code but can’t get past the start screen to enter it.
I click on the desktop icon and the start screen flashes up for a few seconds with the green bar going along it then disappears and nothing else happens.
I’ve reinstalled latest ASCOM and SGP to no avail.

Can’t see how to attach anything on here

Dave

Ah, OK, I understand now. Can you confirm, in that “start screen” window that the version of SGPro you are starting is indeed 3.2 and not 3.0 or 3.1?

If it is 3.2, I will give you a special set of instructions to find logs without the aid of SGPro.

Yes 3.2.0613 something is working as every time I try to start it the number of trial days left is dropping.

There is a program folder but no logs in it.

Dave

Ok, you can find the SGPro log file in a directory similar to this (with your user name):

C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\SequenceGenerator

The AppData folder is hidden by default, but if you paste this into the file explorer location and add your user name, it will take you there without issue. Inside this folder, you will find several .log files that start with sgpro_logfile_. You can grab the most recent one and either paste it in here (because it is likely a short logfile) or email it to support@mainsequencesoftware.com

It doesn’t appear to have produced any new log files since the update the last one is from when trying to log on to the previous version.

Oh, I see… ya, that is a problem for SGPro. For some reason, your machine has denied access to the place where SGPro writes and reads settings (for the current windows user eitdj). You will need to adjust permissions on that folder with a Windows Admin account. Right click on the C:\Users\eitdj\AppData folder and click Properties. Then click on the Security tab along the top. Click on the eitdj account in the top list control and make sure that user has full access to the AppData folder. Here is a screenshot of mine:

Please note that, “Run SGPro as Administrator” will probably work to get SGPro started, but it is not a viable fix as it affects SGPro’s ability to communicate with other applications.

Checked mine looks the same with all boxes ticked

Dave

It should say David T not eitdjt
