I am running SGP 3.0.0.7. An autofocus attempt was producing unsatisfactory results, so I cancelled it. Then SGP reported that it was “starting the autoguider, please wait”. However, it never did start PHD2. It did not connect the equipment. When I connected the equipment, it did not start looping. When I started looping, it did not select a guide star.
Despite the message display, it was as though SGP was inert.
The log file does not shed much light on the problem, just saying [Sequence Thread] Sequence start: guider is not running, setting auto start…
[Sequence Thread] Handling monitoring event (Email 1, Status): Attempting to auto-start the guider…
So, I am not sure if the problem is in PHD2 or SGP.
Any suggestions on possible causes or things to look for?

Hi Manning,
most likely it is activated, but make sure PHD Server is activated so SGPro can communicate with PHD2.
Best regards,
Stephan
Once in a blue moon I’ve seen SGP do this. Very rare but I’ve seen it. Since I can’t reproduce it I haven’t pushed it. I’ve seen a few strange things happen when aborting certain things. It hasn’t really affected me enough to warrant a fix. If it happens each and every time then posting the logs here would result in a quick fix I am sure. So you may want to post your logs if you are interested.
Hi Stephan,
Thank you for the reply.
I remember seeing a message saying, “Starting PHD Server”. But, I didn’t really understand the significance and thus didn’t pay much attention to the circumstances under which that appeared. I think it appeared when I manually (re)started PHD2, but I am not sure.
How to I make sure PHD Server is activated or not?
Manning
Thank you for the feedback and confirmation. This is where the forum is helpful.
Yes, this has only happened once for me also. I don’t have a long enough baseline yet with SGP to have a good feel for what is far outside the normal behavior.
