Should I upgrade to 3

I’ve been using Rev 2 (latest) for several months now and I can’t think of any functionality I’m missing. A couple of small things maybe, nothing I can’t work around. As I look through the list of new features, not many appear useful to my situation (portable setup, never all night, never unmanned) but I am concerned about bug fixes, etc, to Rev 2.6, which I presume has, or will soon, end. Haven’t had one problem to date so this may be a non-issue.

I’m certainly willing to part with $79 (a very small price to pay for a fine piece of software) to upgrade to Rev 3 but I hate to otherwise disturb a working system. I see a change listed as Recover mode stabilization, sounds important, I’m not sure what it is, but that’s about the only item that piqued my interest. What am I missing?

Yes. Hm, maybe I’m biased

Grab the 3.0 release and give it a shot. You can do a 45 day trial just like with version 2. If you don’t have the Framing and Mosaic Wizard and the Notification System, those both come with version 3 now. I would say the Framing and Mosaic Wizard is well worth it, and if you’ve never used it you’re missing out on probably one of the best things about SGP (which is why we just decided to include it…everyone should use it)

You’ll want to backup any sequences and profiles and know that they will not be backwards compatible back to version 2.6.

Thanks,
Jared

Ok, you convinced me, I downloaded Rev 3 but we won’t have a clear sky and no snow on the ground (yes, I’m a wimp, no deep-freeze astronomy for me) until mid-March so I’m going to load it on a test machine for some daylight testing. Unfortunately my imaging PC is Windows 7 and my test machine is Windows 10 but I’m sure I can work around the Win10-ASCOM issue.
