Sky angle versus mechanical angle ae default

I use Pegasus Falcon rotator and ASTAP for platesolving.

The rotator module allows you to select Sky Angle or Mechanical Angle. How do I make ‘Mechanical Angle’ the default? I do not see anywhere in the equipment manager regarding the selection of Sky Angle/Mechanical angle

There isn’t really a notion of default there since the part of the control panel you reference is just for one-time manual movements. It wouldn’t be difficult to remember which you used last tho if that’s what you’re after.

I have the opposite problem:

Wenn you plan a target (with ctr-m, “Framing and Mosaic Wizard”) with rotation angle, then the target rotation angle is inserted as “mechanical” value in the target list (which makes no sense at all, as it was selected as sky angle) - I always have to manually switch back to “sky” angle in the target list. When I forget this - as I once did - the entire imaging session (night) was in vain (e.g. in a sequence of imaging nights), as the angle was errouneously still on “mechanical”.

Therefore, in my view, the angle should always, by default, stand on “sky angle”, in particular when planning a target in the ctr-m Wizard, and the target from the Wizard should be added with “sky” angle to the target list, to be on the safe side, in order not to image with the (meaningless) “mechanical” angle.

I consider the loss of the sky angle, when transferring a target from the Wizard (where the sky anlge was deliberately chosen) to the target list, as a program >bug<. Remedy would be greatly appreciated, so that I do not loose entire imaging nights by oversight.

This sounds like a bug. I’ll take a look. What version of SGPro do you have?

it’s 4.5.0.1638

I’ve noticed this same thing as well with new targets added via the frame and focus module. Latest version.

is there a chance of fixing?
