I have been taking shorter 2 min exposures with no download problems. When I now wish to take 5 min exposures on my zwo 071 I get stuck in download. What gives. I am on trial and about to buy . Will not unless I can take long exposures
I use the ASI 071 MC Pro without any difficulty in downloading any duration subs. I don’t think there is actually any relationship between sub duration and download time. My configuration is SGPro 3.0.1.0 and I use ASI Camera (1) in the sequencer camera dropdown. Also I have both ASICamera ASCOM Setup V1.0.3.15 and ZWO ASI Cameras driver Setup V3.0.0.3 installed along with ASCOM Platform 6.3. If you are using the ZWO Camera option in the sequencer dropdown that might be the problem - I believe this option is still in beta.
Thanks…
I am fairly certain that the problem is a usb problem. The is started when i switched frim a four usb powered hub to a seven and probably changed out the cable that connects to the laptop. It started randomly happening at all sub lengths after I posted. It does not seem to happen in other programs like sharpcap or phd2 with my guider.
Hi Evan,
Maybe an obvious question: are you using a powered USB HUB ? I think it can be a bottleneck if not powered.
I have upgraded my 071MC to the PRO version, it has internal memory buffer to overcome possible USB communication issues as I read in the specs.
Yes… its powered and i have the pro. Usiing latest version of sg pro… I think its a cable issue or even an issue with the computer input port. Running checks during day today.
Thanks
I started using the ZWO setting for camera and the problem went away. I had attempted a direct connection to the scope with no intermediary boosted signal through the hub and that did not fix the issue. Seems the new ZWO is the way to go with this camera.
One thing I would like is an automatic fillin for file location that worked when you loaded the sequencer. It’s a Pain changing this out all the time and selecting a new folder.
Ok, good lucj
Ok, good luck and I hope you will sort it out soon !
I have a ZWO ASI 071 Pro and have gone through the issues of occasional stuck in download. According to the ZWO Users group the ZWO is a bit fuzzy with USB3 port. They do not recommend using longer cable or a hub. I have solved the problem by adding a powered USB3 interface card to my computer (it did not have USB3 interface) and buying a robust 15 ft USB3 cable. I also do not use the fast download. Since then I have not had any problems getting stuck in downloading. Downloading only takes a couple of seconds.
Ok:
So heres the thing:
Once I started using the “ZWO camera” selection in SGPRO 3.1.? (latest version) the download problem went away to be replaced by a worse issue. Somewhat random, Black, empty, of all content downloads, drop off of usb connection and all kinds of wonderful issues. I attempted cable replacement, running SGpro with direct usb cable to the computer, not using fast downloads and various other methods. Then I went to The ZWO site and reloaded all the drivers (over the same drivers as they were all up to date) and loaded ZWO’s introductory software which actually is easy to use controls all aspects - temperature, etc. and runs the camera in native mode. Then went back to SG pro and everything appears to be working now. It seems the USB drivers must have been in some way corrupted. Will find out more tonight when I actually use it to shoot m101.
You can set a default drive and folder for your frames. It then creates subfolders with the name of the target.
You can also use the switches in the file location section to define the directory in case you have multiple locations you want to save the info to.
