The SGPro 4.5.0 alpha is here for purposes of testing and user feedback. This thread is the only place to get it. We want to make sure that using 4.5.0 is an intentional action and not a surprise granted to users who just go through version update actions as a force of habit.
Some notes:
Never use alpha or beta SGPro releases without backing up these threee things:
Any sequences you inntent on opening
Any equipment profiles you intend on editing (better back them all up for this release)
The entirety of the SGPro settings folder located at: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\SequenceGenerator
Iām sure I forgot something but, in general, the 4.5.0 change set is here:
SGPro 4.5.0 does not yet have updated documentation. That said, if seasoned SGPro users are not sure how to navigate these changes, we may want to reconsider something. Most should be self-explanatory.
A special note for āswitchā users: sequences opened and saved in SGPro 4.5 may be opened by previous versions of SGPro, but your switch settings will not be present (see note 1 above). SGPro 4.5 moves to a much more reliable save state for switch data and it is automatically migrated to the new format on open.
I see it now. It took me a while to figure out how the search worked. I realized it highlights sections with flashing box(s)
I did encounter a problem with using the profile manager. It happened 3 times so Iām backtracking to see what steps I made to cause it. Iāll let you know when I find the steps to duplicate the error and will include a screen shot and the session log. As a work around, if I run File ā Save Sequence as Profile, the profile gets restore and is usable.
Tonight, Iāll be able to run an actual sequence.
Do you want us to post issues here or start a new thread?
A definite issue is SGP V5 hangs when attempting to open the āConfigure External Notificationsā window. This happened 3 of 3 times. I tried to upload the log file using SGPās āReport a Problemā but after filling out the issue and attaching the log file, it failed to submit the case.
Addition-
When doing a periodic recentering step, I assume the auto guider would be in the paused mode. It was still actively guiding while auto centering.
Resizing the new Control Panel doesnāt work using the bottom of the panel, but does work from the left, top, and right sides.
Also, resizing doesnāt rearrange anything like a web page does, instead, it simply makes the window smaller or larger, adding scrollbars as needed.
For example, the āFocusā page has 6 panels, but widening the Control Panel doesnāt move the partially-hidden bottom two panes to right of the top 4 panes.
Not sure if my issue got logged through the SGPro interface, so thought it best to post here in case.
Setting Profile as default in 4.5 destroys the profile on reload of SGPro
In Profile editor, right clicking on a profile and setting a profile as default destroys the profile. On restart, SGPro will fail to load the profile with the below error:
That error I have definitely seen. The work around I found that works to clear that for future restarts was: File ā Save Sequence as Profile, the profile gets restored and is usable on the next start of SGP.
Was that in 4.5 Alpha or previous versions?
Iāve not had this specific issue in the 4.4 versions, just in this Alpha version.
Iāll give your workaround a try in this 4.5 Alpha to see if works for me.
Thanks.
It matters not to meā¦ whatever youād like is OK. Especially if reporting issues from the SGPro app itself it may be easier to just create new issues.
I am not sure about this oneā¦ I will investigate. I also cannot produce a hang, but I can sometimes produce a situation where nothing happens at all.
Logs would be helpful here. I just watched a centering here and the guider behaved as expected. Is it repeatable?
Iām working on thisā¦ The status bar at the bottom is swallowing the mouse messages for the window.
There is no intent on implementing a reflow-based layout. It would take forever and it wouldnāt provide anything all that valuable valuable. The only reason itās resizable now is because the current method was easy and folks that have lots of switches appreciate the ability see mor of them at one time.
Thanks, I have this marked for investigation
They are the same and currently I am thinking that the older sequence settings panel will just go away in favor of centralized settings.
They are designed to sync pretty immediately. Iāll see about this.
Yes, the issue was submitted successfully. Iāll have a look at this.
Thanks for your help here. I do very much appreciate it and will work to turn these around over the weekend.
I can reproduce this at will on both Window 11 PCās running SGP V4.5
The first time this was encountered, there was an active image capture taking place.
This led to the session hanging with a spinning circle and the screen faded out with a program not responding eventually displayed. Looking at the task manager, SGP CPU usage dropped to about 0.1%
On the other PC, when āConfigure External Notificationsā was selected with no other activity taking place, it appeared nothing happened but when I attempted to click on any other area, that is when the screen fades and SGP hangs. I also verified nothing is entered in the SGP log during the time when it hangs.
Regarding the auto guiding (am using PHD2) not pausing during a periodic recentering, it was repeatable that night. The next two nights, with the recentering feature disabled, SGP 4.5 ran flawlessly for the 6-hour session. Iāll verify tonight and let you know the results either way and grab the log.
I have had no luck reproducing this or anything similar. Coupled with the fact that @MSiniscalchi finds the issue to be intermittent, I think my only hope of finding it will be logs if you have them.
