SGPro 4.5 Update
I think, at long last, SGPro 4.5 is fully ready for release. That certainly is not to say that there are no bugs present, but I wager it’s more stable than SGPro 4.4 at this point. If you are waiting until it is no longer in beta to use AND you don’t need / use the SGPro documentation, you should be ready to upgrade. If you DO rely on SGPro docs then, you’ll need to wait a bit longer. I am deep into help doc writing mode now.
SGPro 4.6 Update
Just a quick set of bullets outlining the shape of SGPro 4.6 so far. This list is NOT final and does not imply that a thing you want will not be included (especially if it’s a smaller thing). This is a list of only the “larger” things in flight:
- FocusTune:
OneSome-click automation of the (sometimes complex) Auto Focus routine. Every rig has a unique fingerprint and FocusTune will automate you through. It is mostly “one click”, but alas there are some aspects of user setup that are user preference and cannot be automated… so this will be more of a “wizard” type interface where SGPro asks you some questions and then proceeds with automation of the hard parts. - Auto Focus Improvements: Measuring star data with SGPro is pretty reliable, but the data collection part of it has room for improvement. When everything goes right, there isn’t much to the sampling routine: capture 7 or 9 images some number of steps apart and measure. The reality, though, is that things aren’t always perfect in this respect. Sometimes that data provided to measurement calculates a less-than-optimal focus position and Auto Focus isn’t super resilient with respect to correcting this (i.e. recognizing the type of failure and taking recovery actions automatically)
- Lots of user requests inbound in 4.6 as well. I’ll certainly update with a list of those in the near future.
