Not sure what it is useful for
@maalmela, when it gets temporarily cloudy, guiding stops and the “guiding off by x pixels” can appear. If that happens a couple times before the sequence restarts, the image will no longer be centered.
What @Ken describes above will fix that.
Also, some people have mounts that aren’t very accurate and the image can drift. This will also be fixed.
I am excited to try this.
Some feedback: I saw this function in action last night finally (lots of clouds this winter, few imaging nights). Early on seeing was terrible enough to make guiding hit-or-miss. Sometimes guiding missed so badly my target drifted to the edge of my frame. I “caught” SGP opening PlateSolve3 and recentering automatically a few times. I will still lose a few frames due to being badly off center, but that is a huge improvement compared to earlier last year when I either had to babysit my mount or woke up to find I’d lost a half hour or more of data because my mount had wandered away from my target since the last time I checked. Thanks again. Good new feature.
